What a beautiful site! It’s a privilege to read your posts about fatherhood and your letters to your son. It’s a wonderful idea, and it’s something I know my husband will enjoy, too!
We just talked briefly on the phone. I run a nonprofit service-learning organization called Books of Hope. At the moment, we’re evolving into a sister school program between American schools and schools in different parts of the world (mostly northern Uganda right now, though I hope to expand it in the future). We involve about 60,000 students in both countries each year. Our primary goal is to get educational materials to children in really poor, remote areas while also helping US students develop awareness about what children around the world are facing.
I once wrote a regular column called “I am Because We Are,” and I’ve always loved the proverb. I really appreciate your willingness to let me use it as we expand the scope of the program. I think it expresses the intention of our organization perfectly.
Would it be possible for us to find a way to transfer ownership of the URL before it expires next week? I’m really excited to get started with it, and I don’t trust that some web bot isn’t programmed to snatch it up and charge me an outrageous price the millisecond it’s released.
You can contact me directly at my email address above, and I can send you my phone number if you’d like to talk more. Or you should have it on your caller ID – feel free to call me back!
